Hoping to work for us?

Contact us by email or text to find out if we have any positions currently open. All positions are physical farm labor.

We hire both stall cleaners and general stablehands as needed. We do NOT offer any positions that include any riding, training, or teaching as part of their job duties. We also do NOT have housing available.

Stall Cleaner - Mucks, re-beds, and lightly cleans the water buckets in each stall using a wheelbarrow. No animal handling, no operating equipment. Days are set, but you can come in any time that you want as long as it’s after the start of turnout and work at whatever pace you want as long as stalls are finished by 2:30. Payment is based on how many stalls of each size the stall cleaner cleans that day, calculated to equal what a general stablehand receiving our current starting hourly rate and working at the minimum pace that general stablehands are expected to maintain would have made for cleaning those stalls. (i.e. if X small barn stalls plus Y main barn stalls equals four man-hours of labor when working at the minimum pace that general stablehands are expected to maintain, then a stall cleaner who cleans all of those stalls makes a set rate per day of the current starting hourly rate times four.) Able to work faster than we hold the general stablehands to? Great, you can get through a larger number of stalls and make more money and/or finish faster and have free time, etc. Want to go at a leisurely pace and take lots of breaks and text your friends all day? You’re not hourly so we won’t bother you to stay on task, you just might not get through as many stalls as you would have and therefore won’t make as much money as you could have.

General Stablehand - Duties include all daily chores such as feeding, turnout/in, cleaning stalls, prepping grain, filling hay nets, etc, plus miscellaneous tasks as-needed such as giving oral or topical medications or general farm housekeeping tasks. Animal handling required, and may operate equipment such as the gator or the tractor after obtaining training and approval from management on the equipment in question. Days and hours are fixed. Paid hourly, therefore while we are certainly not standing over you cracking the whip (we have better things to do) or making you leave your phone in your bag (we need to be able to reach each other), we do expect you to stay on task and will notice and want to know why if things are taking longer than they should be.

Still don’t know which one you’re interested in?

Know you’re fast and like the idea of a short shift? → Stall cleaner. If you really are fast, you can make the entire daily flat rate in a couple hours. It’s doable!!

Want the freedom to sleep late, wander in sometime mid-morning/midday, and work at a leisurely pace? → Stall cleaner. You’re paid by the completed stall, so there’s nobody breathing down your neck.

Worried that you don’t think you’ll be able to keep up the pace you need to to keep the job? → Stall cleaner. You can always start there, do what you can at the pace you can, and we can talk about switching you to a general stablehand down the line.

Nervous horse handler? → Stall cleaner.

Comfortable with the idea of handling a variety of horses and can stay on task, work at a moderate pace, and stick to a schedule? → General stablehand.
